Spring! What a glorious time of the year. As a florist it means my early morning trips to the flower market are not conducted in complete darkness, I no longer have to tuck a hot water bottle inside my jumper when working in the studio and best of all, the spring flowers start to show their petals.
It is my favourite time of the year. I love the feeling of anticipation, the sense that anything can be achieved. The air is fresh and it seems to blow the cobwebs from my creativity. I want to spend every moment making use of all the gorgeous flowers that will start to disappear by the end of May. The hyacinth, so bright and perky, tulips..in all their varieties…double headed, parrot, fringed, lily flowered…, ranunculus, bluebells, narcissus…the list goes on.
Which means that it is also a wonderful time of year to get married. Bouquets and centrepieces can start to take on that gentle unstructured wildness – a free-ness – which has been blown in with the March wind.
The centrepieces below showcase a cool tone palette of spring flowers…and with a little tweak this look can take you right through to the end of summer.
